History and Background of Hoosier Bat Co:
We began manufacturing bats in 1991.  We have two bats in the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown – One is Sammy Sosa for the year he and McGuire were in the home run chase.  The other is Lance Johnson for back to back years, most hits in two different leagues.  June 28, 2007 Frank Thomas hit his 500th Home Run with a Hoosier Bat!

Every season we have 30-40 Major League players.  We have several minor league players.  We also sell to colleges, high schools and youth leagues.  We ship bats to Japan, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Sweden and more.

Typically the wood used to make bats is ash.  After a baseball has hit the barrel of an ash bat many times the barrel will start to peel away.   This is just the nature of the wood.  At Hoosier Bat Co. we make a solid ash bat.  We also have a bat we have a patent on – The WoodForce 2000.  This bat has an ash handle, hickory in the barrel and maple on the barrel end.  The durability of this bat is in the barrel.  The hickory will not peel like an ash bat.  An example of the durability of this bat is, Sosa used one of the WoodForce 2000s for two years before he finally broke the handle.  The barrel was still smooth.  If this had been a solid ash bat, after two rounds of BP the barrel would already be peeling away and the bat would be no good.

If you are watching a game or see a picture of a player and cannot see the “HOOSIER” logo, you can always tell if it is our bat by the three rings in the middle of the bat.
